Project Collaboration: Promoting Childhood Education through Packaging
Collaborator: Loren Dela Cruz

Brief:
My collaboration with Loren Dela Cruz was inspired by the World Design Capital's ethos of fostering design innovation and addressing social challenges. We aimed to create a packaging solution that promotes childhood education, aligning with the WDC's mission of using design to make a positive impact.

Description:
Our project focused on designing engaging packaging for children's books, with an emphasis on accessibility and creativity. By integrating a bilingual word search and an interactive character illustration, named Odi the Coyote, we aimed to provide an enjoyable reading experience for children in both San Diego and Tijuana.

Production Process:
After thorough exploration, we selected a small box design with a handle for easy portability. Utilizing laser cutting and binding techniques, we crafted the packaging, titled "My First Library," to be visually appealing and interactive. The inclusion of Odi the Coyote, designed to be colored by children, added a personalized touch to the experience.

Goals:
Our primary goal was to create a packaging solution that promotes childhood literacy and encourages a love for reading. By collaborating on this project, we demonstrated our ability to tackle social issues through innovative design solutions, aligning with the values of the World Design Capital.

Collaborative Process:
Collaboration was key to our project's success. Loren and I exchanged ideas, provided feedback, and refined our concept together, leveraging our individual strengths to create a cohesive final product. Our collaborative approach allowed us to overcome challenges and deliver a meaningful design solution that resonated with our audience.
